Jennifer Mettlen Nolan, of Dodge City, KS, will be the Artist-in-Residence Friday, July 16 to Saturday, July 24 at the Red Barn Studio Museum, 212 S. Main St., Lindsborg.


She will have a “Dyed Silk Scarves” workshop:  Sun, July 18 from 2-4PM $50 Members $65 non-members, may be 10 yrs old, if accompanied by an adult. 6 Min 12 Max. Explore limitless color combinations as you dye silk scarves, includes two Habotai silk scarves (11 X 60”) each and participants will walk out of the workshop wearing their creations.  Of her residency she says, “I work in several different mediums, fiber, glass, metals and ceramics; however, for this residency I will be focusing on silk painting.  I will explore new color ways and motifs inspired by the local surroundings while also researching resists and dye application techniques.  I plan to use the rich folk-art history of Lindsborg as well as its lovely flower gardens as inspiration for new designs and color schemes.  I look forward to soaking in as much community and culture as possible during my stay...”  


Jennifer Mettlen Nolan earned her Bachelors and Masters of Fine Arts degree from Fort Hays State University under Linda Ganstrom. Jennifer has taught art at Dodge City Communiity College for 15 years.
